Comptroller and Auditor General: Recruitment of Independent Member of the Board of Governance

 The Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) is the supreme audit institution for Jersey, reporting publicly to the States Assembly. The principal function of the Board of Governance is to keep under review whether the C&AG has used and is using the resources provided by the States properly, efficiently, and effectively.

The Board currently comprises an independent Chair, two other independent members and the C&AG. We are seeking to recruit a further independent member, based in Jersey, with high ethical standards, with the specific purpose of broadening the collective experience and outlook of the Board.

The Board meets three times a year. Meetings may be held at the Government of Jersey London office, in Jersey or by video conference. Full details of the appointment, as well as essential and desirable skills, experience, and knowledge, can be found in the candidate brief:

Potential applicants should note the restrictions in the C&AG (Board of Governance) (Jersey) Order 2015 that prevent those with certain connections with the States or States funded bodies from serving as an independent member of the Board. These are set out in the candidate brief.

We are seeking to appoint an independent member by March 2024, on a term not exceeding five years.  Members are eligible for reappointment, but the total term of office may not exceed nine years. The position is unpaid, albeit travel and subsistence costs will be met.
